Story outline:
Brussels, the Roaring Thirties. Frans Laarmans (Koen de Bouw) turns to the wealthy publisher Boorman (Mike Verdrengh) for help with money, but soon discovers that his Periodical is a sham. They visit an old factory, owned by miss Lauwereyssen (Willeke van Ammelrooy), who suffers from troubles with her leg. Boorman flatters miss Lauwereyssen until the poor woman agrees to order 100.000 copies. Later, they run into her again at a vegetable market. She now has lost her leg, and walks on crutches. They want to refund the money, but she stubbornly refuses. Then follows a clash between this principled lady and Boorman. He tries everything to return the money to her and even assigns a bailiff, but loses his case against her in court. Finally he is taken to an asylum.
